The Campers. There are approximately 600,000 refugee children in Lebanon under the age of 18. More than 400,000 of them are not in school, nor do they have access to any entertainment or sports programs. This summer, Horizons hopes to hold 13, 3-day kids camps for refugee children known as “Camp Love.” These camps will impact up to 1,400 kids with the gospel of Christ. PRAY that the reality of God’s personal care for them will be understood and embraced by each child. May Christ come to dwell in their hearts through faith as they begin to grasp how wide, long, high and deep is His love for them (Eph. 3:17-18).
The Camp Program. Teams of volunteers are coming from around the world. The facilities are being readied. PRAY for the working out of final details for each week of camp. PRAY for needed materials, transportation, food, etc. Each day of camp runs from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and includes 30 minutes of singing and worship, an hour of Bible lesson and application, and then crafts, sports, and games. Both breakfast and lunch are provided as well.
The Staff. PRAY for Mohammed Yamout and his daughter Selina who are leading and organizing the entire camp program. This is a huge amount of work. PRAY for a sufficient number of volunteer leaders for each camp in each location. All camp workers are inadequate in themselves; PRAY for God’s compassion and wisdom to empower them all day, every day.
The Impact. Each camper will come hungry for emotional, mental, spiritual and physical food. Every precious child needs to know Jesus cares for them. PRAY for spiritual breakthroughs.
